Minerals are inorganic nutrients ingested with our food. They are made up of elements in the form of inorganic compounds. The elements are classified into bulk and trace elements.

According to the German regulation for labelling (NKV) the declaration of the sodium content in food is mandatory. The sodium content is analysed as part of the nutritional value analysis (BIG 4, BIG8). Trace elements added to foods must also be labelled.
