Streptomycin is the oldest representative of the group of aminoglycosides (oligosaccharide antibiotics). Typical applications of Streptomycin may lead to residues in food like honey and kidneys. As part of the national residue monitoring plan (NRKP) all samples which were tested positive with an inhibitor test are analysed for aminoglycosides.
For analysis fluorescence spectrometry (HPLC-FLD) and mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) as well as immunological tests (streptomycin ELISA) are employed. At GALAB Streptomycin and further aminoglycosides like Gentamycin and Neomycin are determined using immunological ELISA tests for sensitive and safe results.
