Vibrio cholerae Neuraminidase hydrolyses o-ketosidic α2-3, α2-4, α2-6 and α2-8 bonds of terminal N-acetylneuraminic acid in a oligosaccharides, glycoproteins, gangliosides and polysaccharides. This enzyme can be used for various investigations as for example structural characterization of glycoproteins, as a receptor-destroying enzyme in virology or to characterize and design the binding behavior of glycoconjugates.
