Residual Solvent Analysis |
GALAB Laboratories provides the analysis of different residual solvents in food, food additives and feeding stuff.
During the production organic solvents are often used as extraction solvent, dissolver, cleaning solvent or thinner. After the production, in the following cleaning step, the solvents are evaporated. But small amounts of the organic solvent could be enclosed in the final product.
According to the European Council Regulation 315/93 "contaminant levels shall be kept as low as can reasonably be achieved by following good practices at all the stages" in food.
These regulation is valid for all food stuff apart from materials where specific European Regulation adopted.
|
| Specific Regulations for residual solvent are adopted for example for |
- Directive 88/344/EC, Purity criteria on extraction solvents used in the production of foodstuffs and food ingredients
- Directive 96/77/EC, Purity criteria on food additives other than colours and sweeteners
- Directive 95/45/EC, Purity criteria concerning colours for use in foodstuffs
- Directive 2001/50/EC, amending Directive 95/45/EC, for carotene based colours
